Later Life
Like all men and women who have walked this earth, I did find myself advancing in the years, although I certainly did not feel my passion for liberty fading at all. I wrote my final book, History on the Rise, Progress, and Termination when I was seventy-seven, but my yearning for American freedom still burned as strong as ever. Our dear president Thomas Jefferson actually requested copies in advance for not only himself, but his entire cabinet! That was truly the most remarkable encouragement.
Student's Notes: In 1808, her husband, James Warren, passed away. Then, only six years later, in October of 1814, Mercy Otis Warren took her final breaths at age eighty-six. She is buried at her husband's side at Old Burial Hill in Plymouth, Massachusetts.
